ZnS (Sachtolith) is a very expensive pigment with lower opacity and lower light fastness compared with TiO2.
The only real reason to use ZnS is beacause it is soft (Mohs 3) and because is not abrasive.
There are no other technical or commercial reason to use Sachtolith, since this product is more expensive and lower in performance compared with TiO2.
Lithopone is very similar to ZnS
Our customers replaced ZnS (Sachtolith L or HDS) with our Lithopone obtaining same or similar performance.
Lithopone (BaSO4*ZnS) is very close by chemical point of view to Sachtiolith L or HDS (ZnS).
Lithopone and Sachtiolith L has totally same soft and not abrasive characteristic (Mohs 3).
Normally customers replace 1 Kg of Sachtolith L or HDS with 2 Kg Lithopone obtaining the same or similar performance.
